2013 News:
- Ed Plato has been chosen by his peers to be included in the publication "Best Lawyers in America" for 2013. Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey of nearly 40,000 leading attorneys, who cast about 3.1 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers.
- For the eighth consecutive year, Ed Plato has been designated as a 2013 Super Lawyer in the areas of Government/Municipalities, Construction law and Employment law by Thomas Reuters. Super Lawyers are the top 5 percent of attorneys in the state as chosen by their peers and through independent research of the publisher.
- Ed Plato was invited to be a Fellow in the Oakland County Bar Foundation. Membership in the Fellows is a professional distinction and honor. The number of Fellows is limited to not more than 5% of the total active membership of the State Bar of Michigan who practice in Oakland County.

- Ed Plato was re-elected in December, 2011 for a three year term to the Board of Directors of Angels' Place, a Michigan Non-Profit Corporation that provides homes and services for adult persons with developmental disabilities throughout Southeastern Michigan.
- Ed Plato has been designated a 2012 Top Lawyer in the areas of municipal law and litigation by Hour Magazine and Dbusiness Magazine, Southeast Michigan's Journal for Business.
- Edward Plato, for the sixth consecutive year, has been designated by the national publication Thomas Reuters as a Michigan Super Lawyer for 2011. Mr. Plato was selected in the areas of Government/Cities/Municipalities, Construction law and Employment law. Super Lawyers are the top 5 percent of attorneys in the state as chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Thomas Reuters. A statewide survey is conducted of lawyers who have been in practice for more than 5 years and they are asked to nominate the best attorneys they have personally observed in action. The research department of Thomas Reuters then examines the background and experience of each candidate, searching for evidence of peer recognition and professional achievement. Finally, a blue ribbon panel reviews all the candidates and selects only the top 5 percent of all lawyers in the state to be named as Michigan "Super Lawyers."

Mr. Plato was also a featured speaker at the Annual Meeting of the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys in Petoskey on September 30, 2008. His topic was "Guarding the Public Right-of-Ways".

- Ed Plato was a featured speaker at the annual convention of the Michigan Municipal League in Traverse City on September 19, 2007. Ed spoke on the interplay between municipalities and utility companies in public right-of-ways.
- Ed Plato has again been designated by the national publication "Law & Politics" as a 2007 Michigan Super Lawyer. Mr. Plato was named in the areas of Government/Municipalities, Construction, and Litigation.
- Ed Plato spoke at the MAMA 21st Annual Advanced Institute held at the Lansing Center in Lansing on March 20, 2007. His topic was "How Will the Public Service Commission Handle ROW Relocation Cases?"
2006 News:
- Ed Plato has been appointed unanimously by Mayor Priebe and the Taylor City Council as Corporation Counsel for the City of Taylor, Michigan. As Corporation Counsel, he acts as legal advisor to the Mayor, the Council and all city departments, commissions and boards and prosecutes and defends all cases in which the City is a party.
